…STUNDE NULL
2004 /
The film gives an introduction to open pit mining in impressively detailed pictures. An industrial landscape in upheaval, monumental, monstrous, aesthetically seductive. And for some an adventure playground. KF
Devil Inside
2004 /
Women march, women do gymnastics, women are part of the revolution. Sexy are their appearances - and yet demonstrations of male strength. The partially animated film plays with the role clichés by associating the archive material with the characters drawn on it, supported by the music of "The Flaming Pussy".

die lausitz 20...
2004 /
Lusatia as an inspiration for filmmakers from all over the world: in four short films it shows itself - whether only as a backdrop or as a theme itself - in ever new and surprising forms.
The Austrian Sallmann was repeatedly driven to Lusatia. His film may be a conclusion in 20 pictures, an approach to the fractures and beauties of a maltreated landscape.

DIE LAUSITZ 20x...
2004 /
20 static settings of 90 seconds each. Lusatian still life with boulders, pipes, fittings, spoil heaps, residual holes, empty streets and houses. A landscape after man - who is present in the sound. Contemplative document of a pagination.
Following the example of the American experimental filmmaker James Benning, Bernhard Sallmann develops his later pronounced purist style here - to fathom the invisible in the visible with a long, motionless gaze. In DIE LAUSITZ 20x90 it is the past that still rises out of the flooded pit as a treetop; water flows into it - the only thing that is in constant motion here and pulsates through a constantly present network of pipes. The future of the desert as a lake country is already tangible, while the radios from the opencast mine are still beeping. News from a future that has become history. GL
Electronic Perf...
2004 /
Music is rhythm, is vibration, is pure feeling. But what are feelings? And why do we physically perceive them? The video for "Electronic Performers" by Air follows the pulse of emotion, which spreads like warm waves into the innermost part of our body, through receptors into the finest ramifications of the nerve tracts and into the smallest particles of our existence.

My life in Berlin, with all my hobbies and an introduction to my circle of friends. But also hats that weigh 10 tons and posters that fart.

HI8 RAPORT
2004 /
A young woman experiences her daily life in Belgrade with all its absurdities and melancholy - an impressionistic film in the fragmentary form of a video diary. KF

2004 /
It is the year 1985. In Bremen Tim dreams of a career as a professional tennis player. On a school trip to Kleinruppin in the GDR, he suddenly faces his twin brother Ronnie. German-German confusion comedy with jury member Tobias Schenke in the leading role.
Actually they are twins, the western yuppie Tim from Bremen and his eastern counterpart Ronnie. As babies they were separated after the death of their parents and it was not until 1985, when Tim went on a school trip to the East, that they met for the first time - and involuntarily exchanged their lives.
The film focuses on the adventures of Tim in the East, who lives with the odd Erwin, a photographer who once had a bad relationship with the Stasi. Michael Gwisdek embodies this very authentic character with all his acting skills. Tobias Schenke plays the double role Tim/Ronnie with a certain rude charm. JT

MERCI PATRON
2004 /
Christmas dinner in the canteen: Does the boss really want to relocate the company to the East? When he finally comes to dinner, a confrontation is inevitable.
Obras
2004 /
A journey through Barcelona in time and space becomes an impressive journey into the middle of the vulnerability of a city. "Obras" leads us into the insides of a historic residential quarter, lets us follow residents and listen to their voices before we witness violent, complete destruction and brute reconstruction.

PANTOFFELHELDEN
2004 /
A frog falls in love. He'll do anything to conquer his particularly beautiful beloved. He doesn't even notice that he adores a stuffed animal that adorns a farmer's wife's slipper. KDF

2004 /
The "Hotel Diaries" were created over a period of six years in hotels in six different countries. Against the background of Bush and Blair's "war on terror", they relate personal experiences with the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq and Israel/Palestine through a series of videos. In these works, which work with random coincidences, the hotel room becomes a "found" film set in which my own little adventures are metaphorically linked with the great world events with the help of architecture, furniture and decoration.

A Czech border town is getting fit for Europe. Jan Gogola's humorous contribution to the episode film "Across the Border", awarded the Golden Dove 2004.
