Broken Down Fil...

1985 /
The cowboy hero, the beautiful lady and the dark villain - Osamu Tezuka satirises one of the oldest film genres in cinema history, the Western, and builds a funny parcours of projection and celluloid errors for the drawn protagonists. ŁAGODNA

Unusual interpretation of a short story by Fyodor Dostojewski, a study on jealousy and hatred. (Catalog Wrocław, 2009)

Negative Man

1985 /
Film was long regarded as a medium of mass enlightenment. "Talking heads explained what the world was like. Cathy Joritz scratches with joy at this claimed authority. She carves playfully visual comments into the emulsion layer of the film strip. And so the film professor's pig ears grow. Ines Seifert

Tango Traum

1985 /
An apartment in the Prenzlauer Berg of the 80s, a woman and tango music. In a personal essay, the director explores the origins of the tango, interviews archives, texts, old photos and film footage, and finally even an Argentinean. Tango is understood as a cultural practice that is closely linked to politics and society. But there is also his other side: the sensual, the erotic, presented here as a staging. Both levels, present and past, here and there, blur. At the end there is the realization that the woman cannot get the feeling of life of the Tango. Distance remains foreign, Montevideo an unattainable dream in the GDR of the leaden eighties. A sadness that translated into dance could be a tango. - Grit Lemke

The tragic story of a man haunted by a black tower. Wherever he goes - the tower is already there ... The (purely documentary) images of one and the same building, filmed from different perspectives, are charged with a completely new meaning by the narrative reminiscent of the dark stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Grit Lemke

The only thing he doesn't know is the little herb "Nies-mit-Lust". Luckily, he knows his girlfriend, the goose Mimi. Recommended from 6 years of age Jakob is pretty, talented and smart, but just as proud and cheeky. Sometimes it's hard for him to keep his mouth shut. This is also the case when he helps his mother to sell vegetables at the market and she is harassed by an ugly and crooked old woman. When he defends his mother, he insults the old woman for her appearance. She's taking revenge. She lures Jakob to her home under a pretext. There she conjures up for him the look that he found amusing about her. She keeps him with her for a while, teaches him how to cook and then lets him go. But his mother does not recognize him and so he hires himself out in the kitchen at the prince's court. There he is successful, knowing all recipes, spices and herbs. The only thing he doesn't know is the herb "sneeze with pleasure". That's what the witch deliberately made him forget, because it solves the spell. "Zwerg Nase" is an art fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauff from 1826, which Katja Georgi realized in 1986 in the form of a sensitive puppet film. AD
